A stack of three books titled Stepping Stones: Interviews with Seamus Heaney by Dennis O’Driscoll sits on a wooden table against a textured, off-white wall, with one copy standing upright on top displaying a black-and-white portrait on the cover.

“The way we are living, timorous or bold, will have been our life."

Join us for our monthly online book club, as we come together to discuss Stepping Stones: Interviews with Seamus Heaney, in honour of what would have been his 87th birthday this April.

Often described as a ‘book-length portrait’ of the poet, Stepping Stones offers a rare opportunity to hear Heaney speak about his life and work in his own words. Over several years, he responded to hundreds of questions from a fellow poet and close friend, Dennis O’Driscoll, creating a deeply personal memoir structured as a conversation. Moving between memories of his earliest years, reflections on family, politics, and loss, and insights into some of his best-known poems, the book reveals the man behind the fame. If you've ever had a question for one of Ireland's most beloved poets, chances are it is here!

Whether you’d just like to listen, read your favourite passage, or join the discussion, all are very welcome.
