Reader Registration
Anyone of 16 years and over is welcome to apply for a National Library of Ireland Reader’s Card.
How to apply:
Complete the online application form

You will receive a confirmation email with a reference number.
Bring the reference number and valid photo ID when registering as a reader.
Your Reader’s Card will be valid for up to three years.
If you do not have access to email, it is possible to register in person at the registration office.

Renewing your Reader’s Card
If your Reader's Card expired more than three years ago, you will need to apply for a new card. We are not permitted to hold personal information for more than three years, due to our data protection (GDPR) obligations.
You can renew your card at the Reader Registration Office. Please bring your most recent Reader’s Card with you. If the card expired more than 12 months ago, you will also need to produce a form of photographic identification.
Lost Cards
If you lose your Reader’s Card, you will need to apply for a new card in the registration office. Please bring a form of photographic identification with you.
