Conservation work on paper deeds; Call no: D. 27,348.
Please join us for this talk with Clodagh Burns, NLI Heritage Council Conservation Intern, as part of National Heritage Week.
The Conservation Department at the National Library of Ireland works to make our collections safely available to the public. This talk will present two current conservation projects being carried out by Clodagh Burns, 2025 NLI Heritage Council Conservation Intern. One is a 19th century deed of sale for a former Irish-owned slave plantation on the island of Antigua. The other is a collection of diaries written by Mary Leadbeater (1758-1826), a published writer from Co. Kildare whose diaries provide insights into social and political life in Ireland.

Clodagh Burns is the NLI Heritage Council Conservation Intern for 2025-26. She has an academic background in History (BA), Archaeology (MA) and conservation of cultural heritage. In 2024 she completed the programme in Book and Paper Conservation at the University of Amsterdam (M.Sc. & APP).
