Collection Lists Available

Field Day Papers (Collection List 148)
A collection of papers of the Field Day Company, covering all aspects of the group's activity in theatre and publishing (1980-2008), have now been catalogued. The collection comprises original play-scripts, flyers, theatre programmes and show reports, as well as first editions of many of Field Day's publications, including The Field Day Anthology of Irish Writing. Highlights include early drafts of Brian Friel's Translations and of Seamus Heaney's An Open Letter, as well as photographs of Field Day productions involving actors such as Stephen Rea, Liam Neeson, and Ciarán Hinds. Also included is a comprehensive set of press clippings and reviews covering all of Field Day’s major plays and publications. Download the Field Day Papers Collection List.

Sweetman Family Papers (Collection List 156)
The Sweetman Family Papers contains family and estate papers relating to members of the Sweetman family from the 18th to the 20th centuries, as well as some papers of the related O'Connor and Blake families. The collection also contains the political and professional papers of John Sweetman (1844-1936). These papers comprise material relating to Irish land agitations, Catholic education and missionary work, especially the Sweetman Catholic Colony in Minnesota, the Irish Parliamentary Party, Sinn Féin and the Gaelic League. The collections include letters of Charles Stewart Parnell, Justin McCarthy, Timothy Healy, John Redmond, Arthur Griffith, Douglas Hyde, D.P. Moran, Patrick Pearse, Fr. J.F. Maurice O'Connell Papers (Collection List 155)
The Papers of Maurice Rickard O'Connell, historian, writer and academic, and great great grandson of Daniel O'Connell have recently been catalogued.  Maurice O'Connell (1922-2006) was the Professor of Modern British and Irish History at Fordham, the Jesuit University of New York. The papers include correspondence with prominent historians and academics of his day both in the USA and in Ireland and the UK; and articles, offprints and newspaper cuttings relating mainly to Daniel O'Connell, the Liberator.  He edited, along with the Gerard Lyne, the correspondence of Daniel O'Connell and the card index used for this compilation is also available with the collection.
