In the 18th century, different activities required different clothing, but some women liked to bend the rules when it came to fashion.

Melissa Shiels is a Heritage Expert with Heritage in Schools since 2013, and visits schools, libraries, museums, and festivals all over Ireland giving talks on social history and clothing from the Vikings to the Victorians. She is currently doing her PhD on 16th century dress history and gift exchange during the Tudor conquest of Ireland.
