This illustrated lecture will examine the role of the media in the Treaty split and subsequent civil war. The propaganda produced and censorship carried out by both sides in an attempt to rally public opinion and justify their respective actions will be explored in the context of Irish media and censorship history.

Dr Donal Ó Drisceoil is a Senior Lecturer in History at University College Cork. He has published widely on modern Irish history, most recently Utter Disloyalist: Tadhg Barry and the Irish Revolution (2021), and is an editor of the Atlas of the Irish Revolution (2017).
