Lecture: “RDA Ireland “Meet the Experts”: Hilary Hanahoe - Research Data Alliance Secretary General

Free Public lecture of interest for Librarians, Archivists and Information Professionals

You are invited to attend the public lecture provided by Hilary Hanahoe, Research Data Alliance Secretary General, covering the opportunities brought forward by the emergence of data intensive science and data management mandates extended to traditional libraries. The talk will also highlight how the Research Data Alliance supports the work of the libraries, librarians, archivists and information professionals in this evolving context.
 You are also invited to stay on and continue the conversation after the public talk, in an informal “meet the expert” style conversation saloon from 2pm to 3pm.  You can discuss the topic in more detail together with the speaker, sharing experience and common challenges in this area.

This is the first in a series of  8 “Meet the Experts” talks at the National Library of Ireland inviting national and international speakers to present topics of relevance and interest to different stakeholders and audiences.

Hilary Hanahoe was appointed Secretary General of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) in February 2018, having covered a multiple of roles within the alliance, including the coordinator of the RDA Europe initiative, the Communications and Plenary Manager for the RDA global secretariat. In recent years, she has also managed the process for the recognition of RDA recommendations as ICT technical specifications in Europe. She has considerable experience in community development and data infrastructures specifically in the delivery and implementation of the user-centric communication platforms and communications and outreach strategies. She has edited and written many reports and publications in the field of data, research and e-infrastructures.
