Covid-19: Using the National Library’s Onsite Services

The National Library buildings and onsite services are temporarily closed to the public.  This includes all our buildings on Kildare Street, the Photographic Archive in Temple Bar, and Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again, at the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre on Westmoreland Street.

You can avail of many of our services and engage with us online while the buildings are closed, and we would be delighted to hear from you. Please do continue to email us with queries as normal, and a member of staff will get back to you. You can also contact our genealogy service,  our Manuscripts Department and the Office of the Chief Herald.

We also invite you to enjoy our online exhibitions, and to take part in our extensive programme of online events.

Our online catalogue with more than 125,000 items digitised is freely available throughout. You can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, on Flickr Commons, and on YouTube.

We have a fortnightly email newsletter highlighting how you can stay in touch with us from home, and you can sign up here.
