Access to Catalogue Records

The Library is committed to cataloguing all printed material that arrives into the Library under legal deposit legislation in a timely manner. This proves a useful aid to other libraries as records, once made available on the Library's online catalogue, can be downloaded by others using the Z39.50 protocol.

Z39.50 is an information retrieval standard often used by libraries to access information resources. The basic information required to configure Z39.50 client software to search and retrieve records from the National Library’s online catalogue is as follows:

Z39.50 server:
Port: 210
Database: DEFAULT (all uppercase)
Type: Marc21
