NLI Reading Rooms update

• The NLI Kildare Street reading rooms (Main, Microfilm and Manuscripts Reading Rooms) will close early (4pm) on Wednesday 30 September 2026. 
   
• The Saturday morning opening (9:30-1pm) on 3 October 2026 is cancelled. 

This is due to industrial action across the public sector.

While the industrial action continues, only material held on-site will be available for consultation in the reading rooms. Items stored off-site cannot be ordered during this period.

Scheduled opening hours for Thursday 1 October and Friday 2 October are currently unaffected.

Further closures may be necessary at short notice. If you plan to visit our reading rooms, please check our opening hours page and social channels for up-to-date information before you travel.
