Join us for this 8-week genealogy course with Seán Murphy!

The introductory course to genealogy/family history research will run from Wednesday 18th February to Wednesday 8th April. It will take place in the library's Joly theatre from 2pm to 4.15pm each Wednesday afternoon and will be delivered by professional genealogist, Seán Murphy. Over eight weeks, participants will be introduced to genealogy research including:

  • Computer and Internet Resources
  • Names: Places and People
  • Census Records 
  • Vital and Valuation Records 
  • Church Records and Memorials 
  • Wills, Deeds and other sources
  • Reviewing Personal Projects

Seán Murphy
Professional Genealogist

Seán J Murphy is a history graduate of University College Dublin and works as a genealogical and historical researcher, lecturer and writer.  He has published widely, spoken at conferences and local society events and featured in television, radio and newspaper coverage. He taught adult education classes in genealogy to certificate level in University College Dublin for many years. Sean has conducted genealogy classes for the past decade in the National Library of Ireland.
