Irish Portrait Prints and Drawings

There are several thousand portrait prints, most acquired as part of the gift of Dr Jaspar Joly. Many are of Irish interest and famous figures such as Daniel O'Connell, the Duke of Wellington, Edmund Burke and Jonathan Swift are represented in numerous works. Other prints are after paintings by Irish artists including John Comerford, Hugh Douglas Hamilton, Charles Grey RHA, James Petrie, Sir Martin Archer Shee and Stephen Catterson Smith.

The Department also holds some original portrait drawings including a collection by John Butler Yeats of his family and circle of friends.  Images from the portraits collection are available to view on the online catalogue.
