2/3 Kildare Street

This building was originally a gentleman's club (the Kildare Street Club) and it is remarkable for the carvings on the base of the capitals on its facade.  The most unusual carving is three monkeys playing billiards (see Images of the Library).

The interior has been completely refurbished, with an exhibition area in what was once the Coffee Room and the Manuscripts Reading Room, on the first floor, located in the Club's former Drawing Room.  The ground floor exhibition area, which can be viewed in the 360° tour below, retains many original features, including the elaborate ceiling and ornate cornicing.
