This collection includes correspondence, diaries, notes, drafts and working copies of published and unpublished work. Among the writers whose papers are represented here are Maria Edgeworth, George Moore, Kate O’Brien, Patrick Kavanagh, Brendan Behan, Benedict Kiely, Christy Brown, James Plunkett and Colm Tóibín.

Of particular importance are the papers of W.B. Yeats, which were presented to the Library with extraordinary generosity by the Yeats family. Also of importance is a major collection of James Joyce/Paul Léon papers – a catalogue of additional James Joyce Manuscripts obtained by the library in 2002 can be viewed here.
