Sources: A National Library of Ireland database for Irish research contains catalogue records for Irish manuscripts catalogued up to 1989. Sources also includes records for those Irish manuscripts held in other libraries and archives in Ireland and worldwide, which were listed between the 1940s and the 1970s.
Manuscripts catalogued since 1990 can be consulted on the Online Catalogue and Manuscript Collection Lists Catalogue.
Hayes catalogue – Manuscript Sources for the History of Irish Civilisation, edited by Richard J. Hayes (1965) and Supplement (1979). The Hayes catalogue is a union catalogue, and includes entries for manuscripts of Irish interest held in a number of libraries and archives in Ireland and overseas.
Card Catalogue - Housed in the Manuscripts Reading Room, this catalogue contains entries for material which was catalogued between 1979 and 1989.
Summary Map Catalogue
A summary map catalogue containing a general listing of the map collections held by the Library is available at the counter in both the Main Reading Room and the Manuscripts Reading Room. This is a useful starting point for finding out more about the map collections in the Department of Manuscripts.
Gaelic Manuscripts Catalogue
List of all Gaelic manuscripts held by the Library. Those held on positive microfilm (P) may be viewed in the Manuscripts Reading Room.
Manuscripts on Microfilm
List of all NLI manuscripts held on microfilm. Those held on positive microfilm (P) may be viewed in the Microfilm Reading Room.
