Empire Marketing Board Posters
This collection comprises posters from the British government’s Empire Marketing Board, intended to promote trade between the Irish Free State and Great Britain.
A Margaret Clarke poster from the Empire Marketing Board's Industrial Series (EMB/1).It includes five posters designed by Margaret Clarke and two by Seán Keating as well as preparatory sketches made by Clarke. Clarke and Keating were two of only three Irish artists used by the Empire Marketing Board, the other being James Humbert Craig. The posters were commissioned between 1929 and 1930 and displayed around British towns under the collective title ‘Empire buying makes busy factories’.
