Pamphlets - Thorpe and Lough Fea
Included in the RDS Library collection transferred to the National Library was the set of 300 Thorpe Pamphlets. They were purchased by the RDS from London bookseller, Thomas Thorpe in 1840 and relate to Irish political affairs in the period 1629-1758. This collection is available on microfiche in the main library. The originals have been withdrawn for conservation reasons.
In 1924 part of the library of the Shirley family of Lough Fea, Co. Monaghan was sold. The National Library purchased some hundreds of items including the set of Lough Fea pamphlets. These 300 pamphlets date from the Cromwellian period. This collection is available on microfiche.
