Reading Room, National Photographic Archive

The Reading Room is located on the ground floor of the National Photographic Archive, should you intend to view material from the photographic collections you should visit the Archive. You do not require a Reader's Ticket, however you must sign in on arrival. The Library Assistant on duty in the Reading Room will assist you in searching for information.

The Reading Room provides seating for 10 readers. While the photographs are held in areas closed to the public, a range of reference works, collection indexes  and  surrogate copies are available in the Reading Room.

Services provided in the Reading Room include:

  • Reference assistance
  • Digitised images of photographs
  • Surrogate images for some of the print collections
  • Microfilm for much of the Lawrence collection
  • General reference sources on photographs
  • Online access to consult the photographs that have been catalogued and digitised to date onto the Horizon system
  • Collection indexes
