New 1917 focus area in World War Ireland Exhibition
A new 1917 focus area has been added to World War Ireland, our WWI exhibition at No 2/3 Kildare Street.
The new display items, wall panels and film cover topics such as; the death of poet Francis Ledwidge, America’s entry to the war and the stationing of US Naval servicemen in Ireland, especially Cobh, the shared experiences of the nationalist 16th (Irish) and unionist 36th (Ulster) during the Battles of Messines and Passchendaele, and the increased support for Republican movement in Ireland, as demonstrated by Sinn Féin’s 1917 by-election victories.
Also available now in World War Ireland are new resources from Creative Ireland, including graphic novels and iBooks.
World War Ireland is free to visit and is open seven days a week. Check our opening hours for details.
