The course will run over 8 Wednesday mornings from 10am - 12.30pm beginning on February 5th.

Back by popular demand, this course explores the events, impact and legacy of the Irish War of Independence. It discusses key aspects of the political and military campaigns both at a national and a regional level. The course also examines the Anglo-Irish Treaty signed on 6 December 1921 and the political fallout following its ratification. The course ends with an examination of the Irish civil war and an assessment of the commemoration and memory of the struggle in the ninety odd years since. Participants have an opportunity to view a wide variety of primary source material relating to this period.
