Join NLI staff member and historian Maeve Casserly for a public lecture exploring how different moments in Ireland’s past have been remembered or forgotten. Key episodes in Irish history such as the 1641 Depositions, the 1798 Rebellion, and the Famine will be explored using the rich collections of the National Library. The lecture will focus on popular memory in particular looking at ballads, folktales and even historical fiction today.
