This Glittering Library - loan exhibition from Dublin's Worth Library
The National Library is pleased to host This Glittering Library, a loan exhibition of material from the Edward Worth Library in Dublin. The exhibition, curated by Dr Elizabethann Boran of the Worth Library, will open in the Main Building of the National Library on Monday 13 October and run until Saturday 29 November.
Founded 275 years ago at the newly-founded Dr Steeven's Hospital at the bequest of Edward Worth, a Dublin physician and Hospital trustee, the Worth Library contains over 4,500 books. The books reflect Dr Worth's professional interests in medicine and science but also his fascination in early printing and contemporary book-binding. It is with book-binding that this exhibition is principally concerned and exhibits will focus on bindings from Ireland, England and the Netherlands.
A lunchtime talk will take place in the National Library's seminar room entitled The Worth Library: What the researcher can expect by Dr William J. McCormack, Librarian, Edward Worth Library. The lecture will take place on Friday, 17 October at 1pm. No booking is required.
