Culture Night 2017 - Come on in!

Join us on Friday 22 September as we celebrate Culture Night 2017.

The doors will be open and we will be here to welcome you from 5pm -11pm.

Wander in through the entrance hall and look around at the many features including the stained glass windows and mosaic tiled floor. Chat to our staff and learn about the library - what we do and what we are planning to do!
Linger in the magnificent reading room and follow in the footsteps of many of Ireland’s well known writers.

Immerse yourself in the works of William Butler Yeats in the award winning exhibition Yeats: the life and works of William Butler Yeats.

The exhibition World War Ireland focuses on the unique aspects of the Irish WWI experience drawing on the NLI’s collections of letters, diaries, recruiting posters, newspaper reports, cartoons, handbills and leaflets dating from 1914-1918 and is open at 2 Kildare Street.

Enjoy pop-up displays, performances by the Dublin Bach singers at 8pm and 9.30pm and take a break with a relaxing tea or coffee in Café Joly where music will also be on the menu as well as some Culture Night treats!

Family History
Should you be interested in exploring your family history, there will be a team of genealogists in our Genealogy Advisory service with information and advice throughout the evening.

National Photographic Archive
Drop in to the library’s National Photographic Archive in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 to view the Photo Detectives exhibition. This exhibition celebrates the work and play of the online community who investigate our photographs on Flickr. Who are our Photo Detectives? What do they find out? How does it all work? Find out how our lively Flickr community reveal the stories - humourous, often personal and always surprising – behind the photographs!
