Sweet Delights in Georgian Dublin
In April, we will host The Irish Fine Arts & Decorative Society Spring lecture. In this lecture, food historians Dorothy Cashman and Tara Kellaghan will focus on the sweeter side of the Georgian dining experience. The sophistication of the gastronomic tastes and practices of the gentry and aristocracy in eighteenth century ireland will be highlighted through an exploration of period confectionery, sweet wines and cordials.
Dorothy Cashman and Tara Kellaghan are currently engaged in researching the traditions relating to elite dining in Georgian Ireland - much of this research is being carried out in the library's Manuscript's department.
