Education

The collections of the National Library constitute a unique learning resource for students of all aspects of Irish history and culture. We have devised a broad educational programme to maximise this potential, providing a wide range of services for primary, post-primary, third level students, lifelong learners and educators. We are interested in hearing from you, so do conact us at learning@nli.ie

Primary
We offer tours and workshops of our exhibitions for primary schools. Workshops are also available to download and complete in the class room.

Post Primary
We offer a variety of resources specially designed for post primary students including historical case studies and specialised tours of the Yeats exhibition.

Third Level
The printed and visual collections are  an excellent resource for students and teachers at third level. Introduce your class to the library by pre-booking a class visit.

Lifelong Learning
In keeping with our committment to life long learning, we host a number of short courses in collaboration with the UCD Department of Adult Education which take place in Autumn and Spring each year. Subjects have included W.B.Yeats, 1916 and the War of Independence. Participants are also introduced to relevant material from our collections.

We also run collaborative research projects as part of our involvement in  Bealtaine, the Age & Opportunity Festival.

Family
We regulary organise storytelling and creative workshops for children.
