A State Heraldic Museum has been attached to the Office of the Chief Herald since 1909. It was the first such permanent museum in the world. It is located at 2 Kildare Street where the Office is also  based. Its collection is a varied one and demonstrates the breadth, development and application of heraldry in Ireland and Europe over the centuries.
