Copying of National Library material is permitted but certain restrictions may apply. Readers may contact the Reprographics section if they wish to place an order for a copy of an item from our Collections. There are also a range of self-service copying facilities available to readers, details of which are given below.
Self-Service Copying
Photocopying
The National Library’s self-service photocopying facility is available to readers in the Copying Service Room (adjacent to the Main Reading Room).
Printouts from Microfilm
Readers may make copies of newspapers and manuscripts on microfilm using the self-service reader/printers in the Microfilm Reading Room. Readers may also make copies of Catholic Parish Registers in the Genealogy Services Room.
Digital Photography
Readers are permitted to photograph material from Library Collections in the Copying Services room, the Manuscripts Reading Room and the Prints and Drawings Reading Room.
Online Services
Users may print copies from any of the online sources available on the PCs in the Genealogy Room.

Reprographic Services
National Library staff can make photocopies, printouts, digital images and prints of items in the Collection depending on the size, format and condition of the material. Orders can be placed in person in the Copying Services room, by telephone to +353 1 6030 214, or by email to copy-orders@nli.ie. Alternatively please download and complete the Copy Order Form CopyOrderForm_NLI.pdf (0 MB, Adobe PDF). Please note that the delivery time for images may be up to three weeks depending on the status of hte material requested.
