Access and Copying Facilities
Access
A Reader’s Ticket is necessary in order to consult items from the printed book collections including LO; Dix; Joly, Swift; Thom.
The Irish and special collections are available on demand in the main Library in Kildare Street, apart from the Yeats material which must be consulted in the Manuscripts Reading Room.
Most of the General (non-Irish) Collection is kept in our offsite store. Material is collected from this store on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Note: In cases where a surrogate copy of an item in the collections exists the original item will not be issued. There are also situations where original material will not be issued even if there are no surrogates eg in the case of items which are particularly fragile or vulnerable (and are therefore withdrawn for conservation purposes).
Copying Facilities
It is possible to get copies of most items in the collections, provided the material is in good condition and will not be damaged by copying and subject to the constraints and limitations of copyright law.
For information on pricing and to place an order, please see the Copying Services section of this website.
