Board Committees

Statutory Committees

In accordance with the provisions of the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997, the Board has established two statutory Board Committees, reporting to the Board.  These include the Readers Advisory Committee and the Committee on Genealogy and Heraldry.

Readers Advisory Committee
The main function of the Readers Advisory Committee is to act as a standing body to advise the Board of the National Library on matters relating to the provision of services by the Library.

The statutory Readers Advisory Committee is chaired by Board member, Dr. Marian Fitzgibbon and the other members are as follows:

Board members - Dr. Denis Marnane, Mr. Patrick McMahon

Non-Board members - Mr. Diarmuid Kennedy, Mr. Felix Larkin, Mr. John Waters

Committee on Genealogy and Heraldry

The main function of the Committee is to act as a standing body to advise the Board of the National Library on matters arising from the Board’s statutory powers and functions in the areas of Genealogy and Heraldry.

The statutory Committee on Genealogy and Heraldry is chaired by Board member, Ms Pat Quinn and the other members are as follows:

Board members - Mr. Brian Halpin and Mr. Denis Marnane. 

Non-Board members - Mr. Patrick Clyne, Dr. Terence Dooley, Mr. John Grenham, Dr. Susan Hood
The Director of the National Library and the Chief Herald of Ireland are non-voting members of the Committee.

Non-Statutory Committee

Audit Committee
The Board has also established an Audit Committee.  The Committee is chaired by Board member, Mr. Brian Halpin and the other members are as follows:

Board members - Mrs. Susan Philips, Mr. Paul Shovlin

Non-Board member - Mr. Frank Keane
