Accessing Music

Note: From Monday 16th July  the music collections (prefixes JM, AM and MU) will be available for consultation in the Manuscript Reading Room. Readers may order up to 3 items  at each delivery time, in person in the Manuscript Reading Room, by telephone to: +353 1 6030 386, or by completing the online order form on the Library’s website

Access to the music collections is open to all holders of a Reader's Ticket (see Readers' Tickets).

Access to the manuscript music collections is through the Reading Room of the Department of Manuscripts which is situated on the second floor of 2-3 Kildare Street (see Opening Hours).

Music PAL

The National Library is a member of the Music PAL scheme which is designed to facilitate greater access to music resources available across a broad range of libraries and archives throughout Ireland. Those who wish to access these music collections can apply for a Music PAL Access Card .

Those who wish to consult the National Library’s music collections (including holders of a Music PAL Access Card) must  also hold a current reader's ticket for the National Library.
