In over 120 years on Kildare Street we have accumulated quite a few stories; not to mention a few million books, maps, photographs, manuscripts, diaries, letters, prints, drawings and a wonderfully eclectic range of ephemera.
People are at the centre of our stories: our visitors and researchers who come to the library to visit exhibitions, attend events, investigate their family history and write their stories.
In our blog we’ll bring you behind the scenes to meet our staff, introduce you to our visitors past and present, and put you in the front row of events.

I am looking for an original picture taken by Austin Finn in the Irish press of my brother Patrick Wade I think it was taken in 1973 and the heading on the article was Pat gets the bird I would be glad of any help

Re. William Vincent Wallace. Thank goodness we have Dr. Una Hunt to keep us informed of past composers and valued musicians. Perhaps she could have her friend Miriam Gallagher produce a work that Dr Hunt could showcase Wallace’s music.

I’m, Aoife, the curator of our new exhibiton Small Lives. The exhibition displays photographs of children from all over Ireland between the years 1880 and 1970. The exhibition can be seen in the library’s photographic gallery in Templebar, Dublin until June 2012. If you can’t get to Templebar you can see the photos from the exhibiton here on our flickr pages
