I'd recommed you email hfaul@nli.ie about this. That's Honora Faul who looks after all of our Prints and Drawings, and that includes the Doyle sketches...

I am interested in buying a copy of all of Charles Altamont Doyle's sketches. I have seen some of them and they are wonderful. I am an author, getting ready for the illustration phase of my book, and his images are similar to what I hope to see them do for my book. Please let me know if there is a place I might buy such a book. Fabulous! Thankyou

Thanks Felix, I find his drawings amazing too. I have not investigated the reasons for his middle name Altamont, although it did occurr to me once or twice that he is the only person in his family with that name, and why?
I have no idea if it has anything to do with the Browne family of Wesport House. I found a family tree here and cannot find the connection:

It would be great to find out :)

Also, there's a very comprehensive website dedicated to him, you might find it interesting:

What beautiful drawings! I particularly like the 'perambulators'. Thanks for a very interesting post, Giada. Because Charles' name, I wonder was there any connection with the Browne family of Westport House, whose titles include Earl of Altamont - though their main title is Marquis of Sligo. Just curious.
