You're very welcome, Jennifer. Adverts are the absolute business (if you'll pardon the pun). And who could resist the kind of business confidence and commercial freedom to make wildly outrageous assertions exemplified by "Positively the Greatest Value on Earth can be had during this sale"?

Wonderful! Now, if only I could find a 'metallic coffin at an appallingly and ridiculously low price, by which the unpleasantness of decomposition would be avoided'. Thus, my purse would not be stretched, and I would not have to apply for said position at the Lunatic Asylum, although the perks of 'rations, washing, lodging, and partial clothing' hold great appeal. :)

I am deeply enamoured of the language and composition of old newspapers ads and articles. It seems as though great care went into their preparation, although they evoke smiles from a twenty-first century perspective. Thank you for posting this piece.

Cheers,
Jennifer
